About Crossroads Music Festivals' annual benefits :


The "Rock the House" benefit is an annual event, usually taking place around the middle of May, in Roanoke/Salem, Virginia. Starting in 2006, it's 9th year, the benefit was moved to the Salem Red Sox ballpark, with an opening concert and a baseball game. One dollar per ticket goes to the House (the stadium holds 6,000). A benefit like this is a community effort, supported by many local sponsors like Pepsi Cola, Ridenhour Music, WROV FM 96.3, Earl Wood Printing,Catawba Sound Studio, and the Salem Red Sox. Oh, yeah- the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,in Cleveland,is an annual sponsor,
. And- since 2002,the GRAMMY AWARDS people have been sponsors,too ! South West Airlines donates a pair of go-anywhere tickets as the Door Prize, during the Seventh Inning Stretch!

There is no budget to compensate musicians for performing- HOWEVER- a number of "club sponsors" will hire a band for a paid gig, if they agree to play a free set at one of the benefits. For out-of-town bands, there is a free service to help arrange a "tour" in the area by providing contact information to the club sponsors.
